In September 1972, a young lady walked through the front door of a brick building on East New York Street in downtown Indianapolis. The new receptionist didn’t realize that this was the start of a journey that would last 50 years with Standard Change-Makers. We have mixed emotions in announcing Barbara McColly’s retirement from her position as Inside Sales Manager on Friday – January 28, 2022.
Barb started as a receptionist, but moved into the position of secretary for Jack Dugan, who was then Vice President of the national sales team. While handling her secretarial duties she picked up on features and benefits for the various product models. Soon she was answering questions in correspondence and handling phone inquiries. She continued in those duties when Barry O’Brien assumed the Sales Manager duties in the early 1990’s, and was promoted to Inside Sales Manager.
Multiple Product Changes over the years
In her time at Standard, she has sold: System 200A, System 500 and 500-E, System 600-FST and 600-EF validators in numerous machine models. She has processed orders for: SC, EC, MC, BX, BCX Series and the Guardian XP Pay Stations. Barb has coordinated hundreds of thousands of shipments from the back docks to multiple locations throughout the United States and Canada. Her knowledge of our various distributors and products was amazing.
Ready for Retirement
As her retirement day was drawing close, she was happy with her decision to retire and felt the timing was just right. She is looking forward to having more free time to pursue her hobby of quilting (she makes beautiful hand-made quilts!), and spending more time with her cats. She has been an invaluable member of our team, and will surely be missed. But after 50 years, she has earned some much deserved time off. Happy Retirement, Barbara!
