Literally, he was our National Service Manager for a long time!

INDIANAPOLIS – After an outstanding 35-year career with Standard Change-Makers, Kris Kious has officially hung up his headset and joined the ranks of the retired. Kris’s last official day was August 28th — the final day of The Clean Show in Orlando — and he reports that he’s now “enjoying every day being like Saturday.”

Kris began his career at Standard in 1990 as a Service Technician and was quickly promoted to National Service Manager, succeeding Bill Williams in that role. Over the years, he has been a driving force behind countless product improvements — from software and firmware upgrades to hardware enhancements and new machine designs. His extensive hands-on experience working with customers in the field made him an invaluable source of insight and innovation.

A strong voice in many product improvements

Kris played a significant role in developing our newest hopper design, making substantial contributions to both the concept and testing. Fittingly, the “K” in the K5000 hopper stands as a nod to his leadership and influence on that project.

In retirement, Kris plans to spend more time on the golf course (he’s already shaved two strokes off his handicap) and travel with his wife and family. We wish Kris all the best as he enjoys his well-deserved retirement — and thank him for his many years of dedication, expertise, and friendship.

New leadership in the Service Department

With Kris moving on to retirement, Robert Unterborn has stepped into the role of National Service Manager. Robert has been preparing for this position for more than two years, first working alongside Kris as a bench technician in our Technical Service department, and later as Parts Manager, where he handled parts orders and assisted customers by phone and email. His hands-on experience and dedication make him a natural fit to lead our service team moving forward.
