INDIANAPOLIS – Standard Change-Makers announced a significant price that takes effective on July 1, 2022. The price increase is due to continuing supply chain shortages and increasing cost for critical components associated with building and support our line of currency change machines.
“It’s not something we wanted to do, it’s something we had to do,” reports Mike Coons, Vice President of Sales & Marketing. “Like everyone that stayed open during the pandemic, we continue to see double-digit price increases on items that are critical to the operation of our equipment. Especially on board level components – like microprocessors. We are forced to find new sources, and then having to bid on the available supply.”
Stainless Steel and Painted Faceplates
“Another example is the price of 7-gauge stainless steel used for our faceplates. The price of a 4 x 8 sheet of 304 stainless steel has increase 240% since November, 2021. That’s why we felt compelled to offer painted steel faceplates – offering alternative solution to keep our prices more competitive.”
“With the continued focus on inflation for the rest of 2022 and into 2023, we know that money is going to get tighter as the Fed continues to raise interest rates, and the government is unlikely to provide any additional assistance,” said Rob Unterborn, President/CEO. “We’d rather get out in front of it, and hopefully keep all the supplies we currently have on order coming in as promised. We will have the resources on hand to continue to address our present backlog in both new machine production and service/repairs of existing equipment.”
GOAL: Reduce Lead Times
Our goal since the pandemic, has been to get back to 2-3 week lead times on all new machine orders, and getting service back to reasonable turnarounds of a few weeks. But supply chain shortages and changes in personnel continue to interrupt our progress. We are completely aware (and agree) that 12+ week lead times are unacceptable. But, if we can’t get the parts on time – we can’t make the equipment.
Price Increase result of surprises in supply chain
“I know I’m preaching to the choir! Our distributors and customers have been dealing with this for two years as well. Every time we turn around, and think nothing could surprise us – we get a new surprise! We are attempting to be more proactive and control the things we can control, and deal the best we can with all the stuff out of our control,” added Coons.
